“Sometimes I have to stop listening to a Pierce Pettis track halfway through because he makes me want to give up on songwriting.  Pierce is a master musical storyteller, delivering human truth and heartbreaking vulnerability with every tune. He’s also an unnecessarily virtuosic guitarist with the voice of some beautiful angel who also happens to be your old, familiar friend.  All of it completely unfair.”

- Justin Paul, writer/composer "La La Land", "Dear Evan Hansen"

"...all Pettis has to offer is his earnest best, a tender heart, packaged in one three-and-a-half minute song after another."

-Jason Killingsworth, Paste Magazine

"Pierce Pettis bares a gentle soul with a keen eye, a soulful voice, and perfect guitar accompaniment for his beautiful songs - a masterful poet treasure"

-Darrell Scott, songwriter/recording artist

"I have loved Pierce's music for many years now-he has the gift of a true inner compass."

-Eliza Gilkyson, songwriter/recording artist

“Pierce Pettis doesn’t write mere songs, he writes literature...End to end the songwriting is brilliant...Pierce Pettis albums are events in my listening. His writing just gets better all the time and his singing is marvelous, wry and warm..." -Sing Out!

"...One of the more vital and critically acclaimed folk stars of recent years."

July/August 2024

Happy Independence Day!

And Happy Canada Day to our pals north of the border : )  Speaking of independence, I’d like to thank all the promoters, house concert hosts, club owners and especially YOU  … for keeping independent acoustic music alive!  You make it possible for folks like me to make a living doing what we love.  Thank you ❤️

I start July with a tour across the midwest —playing dates near DetroitChicago, and

Minneapolis/St. Paul.  First off, I’m doing a couple of songs for the folks at Grass Lake United Methodist Church in Grass LakeMI during worship service.  Later that evening, I’m back with my dear friends at Trinity House Theatre in LivoniaMI >with special guest, Jim Bizer! (  I met Jim at John Lamb’s Retreat for Songwriters last year and he’s terrific.  He’s also a hometown boy with a new album to promote (and it’s his birthday!).

Next, I head over north of Chicago to Lake Forest, IL doing a semi-private event there.  Afraid that one is invitation-only (sorry).  And so is my next show —a private event in St. Paul, MN.  But the following night I’m doing Ed and Darlene's House Concert in MahtomediMN (just outside St. Paul) and everyone is invited!  Then I’m back down south, sharing the stage with the legendary Jeff Black ( at Fiddler’s Green in AtlantaGA.

In August I’m honored to be the featured songwriter at "19 Miles to Music Row” in FranklinTN (near Nashville).  And I’m especially honored to be part of a tribute to philanthropists, Doug and Sally Kauffmann, at the Connie Maxwell Children's Home in GreenwoodSC —followed by a full concert that evening.  Lastly, I’ll head over to MemphisTN, playing the hilariously named Folk All Y’all concert series.

Come see me out there, somewhere!  😉 —Pierce
